FAQs
Why a union? Why the Child Care Providers
Together Michigan? What’s
the union’s agenda?
Child care providers are the union—45,000 providers trying to improve
things together instead of as individuals; the provider will elect
representatives to negotiate the contract, will decide what priorities
for the contract are, and then will vote to ratify the contract.
What can we accomplish as a union?
Providers want a union to
have a voice and have power to address our concerns. Some of the top
issues include improving reimbursement rates, obtaining access to
affordable group insurance group insurance, and having a voice in
policy decisions. The power of 45,000 providers together is more likely
to lead to improvements.
What about dues?
Dues don’t start until after a majority
of family child care providers vote to accept a contract that we have
negotiated.
